From greenery and garlands to flower crowns and freeform bouquets, this summer’s floral trends are showstoppers. Carly, a member of the talented team at Evergreen Floral in Niagara Falls, is seeing these trends and more as area brides finalize the details for their summer weddings.
Greenery
One of the biggest floral details of this summer’s weddings will be beautiful greenery. Tables draped with garlands and hanging greens are replacing collections of lush flowers. Even bouquets and centerpieces are seeing more green elements than in years past.
Carly, as well as brides across Western New York, especially loves when garlands of greenery are used to accent the head table. There are even more options for couples choosing to share a sweetheart table for their reception. Not only can garlands be used on a sweetheart table, they can also be draped across the front or even above the table to highlight the couple. Brides and grooms are also asking Evergreen Floral to craft living walls to place behind their sweetheart table.
Both greenery and flowers are helping decorate venues beyond the traditional centerpiece. Chandeliers and staircases dressed with florals become statement décor pieces that help transform a venue into a couple’s dream wedding.
Bouquets
Bouquets are undergoing a large shift this summer. What were once small, compact, monotone arrangements are now wide, abstract and cascading. Brides are choosing larger bouquets with more color and variety crafted in a more freeform style – perfect for carefree summer ceremonies.
Flower girls are enjoying miniature versions of bridal trends. Evergreen Floral caters their suggestions to the age of the flower girl. Younger girls can easily carry a nosegay that mimic the bridal party’s bouquets, while older girls are more likely to be able to wear a flower crown. This is one area where some brides will be keep things traditional this summer, with petals in a pretty basket.
Peonies
Warm weather brings more abundant flower options for florists across the country, including in Buffalo. Throughout late spring and summer, Carly loves working with peonies. Their loose petals and rich tones make them a beautiful addition to colorful and greenery-filled summertime florals.
