“The Make Your Moment Wedding Social is such a fun way to get lots of new ideas for your upcoming wedding while meeting with the areas’ top wedding service providers,” said Heather Hammer, pastry chef, Cookie Patisserie & Bakery. “And, each of the vendors will be giving away a prize package!”
Held at Rich’s Atrium, the Wedding Social is set-up like a real wedding, with everything from food stations, wine tasting and tablescapes so you’ll find endless inspiration for your upcoming wedding.
Whether you’re planning to follow the trends or stick to tradition, a hand-selected group of WNY’s most prestigious wedding vendors will be available to answer questions, offer ideas and help you achieve the wedding of your dreams.
When it comes to wedding cake trends, Heather says WNY couples don’t seem to be in a rush to follow global trends. In fact, Heather is still seeing a trend toward rustic chic cakes and more traditional designs with the couples she’s working with this season.
“We’ve had new venues open up locally in the last few years that are rustic, barn-inspired spaces so I think couples are using the venue as their inspiration point for décor and design, which has kept the rustic cake trend relevant,” said Heather. “I also have the privilege of designing cakes for many same-sex couples this year, and many of these couples are going for large, traditional cakes, which I love to create.”
Heather has been making wedding cakes for 15 years, in which time she has seen many trends come and go. As we move into a new decade, Heather is still seeing traditional flavors but a move toward simple cakes with clean lines and limited use of cake toppers. She also said dessert tables continue to be a reception trend in 2020, especially since many venues are offering a limited selection of desserts as part of their wedding packages. Heather sees a lot of couples opting for a smaller cake to accompany the dessert menu offered by their caterer.
“I love a good dessert station,” said Heather while giving us a flavor of a well-rounded sweets table. “I like to center the table around a beautiful cake, then sprinkle in something for everyone, including a variety of hand pies, dessert cups of layered mousses, macaroons for color, dipped pretzels for height and a few candies.”
Heather’s team at Cookie can provide a delicious array of desserts to create a stunning sweet station for your wedding, and much more. Think of Cookie for your bridal shower desserts and favors as well.
“We’ve created unique edible favors for many couples,” said Heather. “I think sending guests home with something sweet to enjoy later that night or the next day is a wonderful sentiment that leaves a lasting impression. My favorite edible favor is a sugar cookie; not only do they taste great but there are so many ways to be creative with the shapes and icing. We can create something truly unique and personalized for each couple.”
Heather will have a selection of cakes and sugar cookie favors on display at the Make Your Moment event to inspire couples. Don’t forget to reserve your spot to the exclusive Make Your Moment event!
