For a lot of animal lovers, including their fur kids in their big day is essential. Use these ideas to incorporate your pets in your wedding, whether in person or in spirit.
Bring Them Along
For low-key pets that love attention, what could be better than going to your wedding? There are lots of ways to add your furry friends to your ceremony and reception. Perhaps most common is the four-legged ring bearer or an escort for your (human) flower girl.
You could also have your pet wear a sign pointing guests toward their seats or cocktail hour refreshments. If you want your dog, cat or pig to be present but aren’t comfortable trusting them with a big job, outfit them with a new blue collar and leash for your “something blue.”

Let Them Stay Home
Maybe your furry friend is more inclined to hang out on the couch than party the night away. Maybe they’re just a little too rambunctious for a big gathering. Regardless, letting your pet stay home during your wedding doesn’t mean they can’t be there in spirit. There are plenty of ways to incorporate your dog, cat, horse or bird in other ways!
Bring your animals along for your engagement photos. With less people and a more relaxed timeframe, even high energy dogs can be an adorable addition to your engagement photos. These images will be more about your everyday lifestyle, where a little bit of mud or big sloppy tongue isn’t going to ruin the day.
To keep your pet close to your heart on your wedding day, add their likeness to your pocket square. This is just one way to add your pets to your ceremony and reception. Furry friends are also a wonderful addition to your cake topper, favors (think lucky horseshoes or gourmet dog treats) and stationery. Invitations, place cards, menus and thank you notes are all cuter with a little reminder of your beloved pets.
You can also honor your adopted pets by adding your favorite animal rescue group to your registry. Instead of gifts, ask your guests to donate in honor or memory of their furry friends.
