Most wedding checklists cover big must dos, like booking a venue and sending invitations. These little details will help turn your wedding planning to do list into a complete checklist.
9 to 12 Months Before Your Wedding
Coordinate a rain plan. Outdoor weddings are a beautiful way to celebrate your love for one another among family and friends. No matter what the weather forecast usually looks like during your wedding month, plan for inclement weather.
8 Months Before Your Wedding
Coordinate your website launch with your save the date send date. Many wedding checklists include both launching your website and sending save the date cards. These are two separate to do items that should be coordinated. Make sure people who receive your save the date can go to your wedding website for more information right away.
4 Months Before Your Wedding
Create a must-play list of songs. You’ll meet with your DJ or band two or three months before you wedding. Give yourself some time to come up with a list of all the songs you absolutely need to hear at your reception.
Design all your printed items. While designing your wedding invitations, go ahead and order programs, place cards and thank you notes as well. This will ensure all your items are coordinated.
Plan for younger guests. If you have lots of young cousins, nieces and nephews, give them fun activities to do during the ceremony. You might also consider setting up a separate area for them to hang out in during the reception. Hiring a babysitter or two may be worth the peace of mind, both for you and their parents.
1 Month Before Your Wedding
Consider food allergies with your caterer. When meeting with your caterer to finalize your menu, make sure to discuss food allergies. After your guests RSVP, finalize with your caterer how specific food allergies will be addressed.
Get your marriage license. Your ceremony’s location will determine when exactly you need to get your marriage license. Don’t neglect this detail, because it may not be possible to get one after a certain point.
Print important day-of information for your wedding party. Make sure every member of your wedding party, as well as parents, vendors and day-of wedding coordinator, have a printed copy of important wedding day details. Include information like wedding party contact information, directions to the venue, wedding day itinerary and vendor contact information.
Write and practice your vows. Give yourself lots of time to write vows and a thank you speech that come from the heart. Practice them a few times to help you beat wedding day jitters.
After Your Wedding
Leave reviews for your vendors. Taking a few minutes after your honeymoon to write reviews on Google or Facebook for each of your vendors. This will benefit both your vendors and couples looking to use their services in the future. Think about which reviews were most useful to you as you planned your wedding when writing reviews.
