Wedding themes are quickly becoming a thing of the past, according to Rich’s Event Planning Manager, Steve Guagliardi. “More and more we’re seeing couples opt out of a specific theme that’s weaved throughout their entire event, rather they’re focusing their energy on selecting a few unique décor items to infuse personality and individual style into their wedding.”
In terms of décor, Steve helps couples source specialty linens, charger plates, napkin rings, projected monograms, non-floral centerpieces and more.
Non-floral centerpieces have become a very popular alternative to the costly, extravagant and unsustainable nature of traditional flowers. To create dramatic tablescapes, Rich’s offers gold and silver candelabras, silver lanterns with LED pillar candles or firefly lights, or a grouping of three crystal candle holders.
All of these options are priced around $30 each. In comparison, typical floral centerpieces cost an average of $50-$75 each and they usually wind up in the trash by the end of the wedding. Non-floral centerpieces are a great way to save a few dollars, be more environmentally conscience and create a unique look.
While themed weddings are on the decline, a few decorating trends have clearly emerged.
Rustic weddings remain a leading design style. By bringing the outdoors in (or having an outdoor wedding), you let nature take center stage. Using harvest tables, wooden signs, twigs and twine you can add hints of rustic charm to any wedding. For an authentic barn wedding, visit Akron Acres. Just 30 minutes from Buffalo, Akron Acres recently constructed a gathering barn which holds up to 280 guests. Rich’s Catering & Special Events is catering a beautiful wedding there this May!
Romance is a classic decorating style for weddings. Soft colors, lots of candles and dramatic floral displays exude love and romance, and never go out of style.
Finally, vintage vibes are a constant theme among today’s couples. From the dress, to the invitations to the hairstyle, delicate finishes and ornate details add a nostalgic and elegant feel to any wedding.
Be sure to discuss your unique decorating ideas with you event manager to determine any additional costs or needs up-front.
